Usable Statistics
By: Jeff Sauro

Do you need to feel more confident about using statistics? Dismayed by overly complicated "introduction" courses that focus on theory and not application? Do the "basic" books assume you know where to look for your answer ?

Module 1: Confidence Intervals

Understanding and successfully using confidence intervals requires the mastery of the following components:

  1. The Margin of Error
  2. Sample Size
  3. Confidence Level
  4. Population Variability
  5. Standard Deviation
  6. Degrees of Freedom
  7. Standard Error
  8. Binomial Populations
  9. Calculating and Interpreting Confidence Intervals

You can start the lesson from the beginning or go right to a specific component.

Not sure where to Start?

If you know something about the subject, but are not sure where you should begin, take this short quiz and it will recommend a starting point. You can always start at the beginning as well.

How the Lessons Work

During the lessons, you'll see "sliders" like the one on the right --->
Use these sliders to indicate how clear a section of the material is to you. The information will be used to make the lessons easier to understand. At the end of one or two concepts, you'll be asked a couple of question to see if things are making sense. You can always retake a module, a quiz or skip ahead if the content is too easy.

You'll also see this U symbol within the text. Clicking on this shows areas where users had problems understanding the material and contains more clarification that helped them better understand the content.
