Question : What are the units of z-score?

Answer : Z-score units are standard deviations. The unit of measure though is dimensionless, or it doesn't matter if you use inches, feet, miles, pounds, seconds or IQ score, the z-score is a unit of measure that referes to the normal distribution, not the underlying way it was measured. For example, if a person's IQ has a z-score of 2, it means their score is 2 standard deviations above the mean. If a person's height is a z-score of 2, it also means their height is 2 standard deviations above the mean. Both z-scores of 2 indicate that the person is in the 95th percentile of height and IQ. Of course, being really tall and having a high IQ are different things.
