Question : Suppose that the scores of architects on a particular creativity test are normally distributed.What percentage of architects have Z scores. (a) above .10, (b) below .10, (c) above .20, (d) below .20, (e) above 1.10, (f) below 1.10, (g) above -.10, (h) below -.10?

Answer :

Use the z-score to percentile calculator for each z-score. Each of the 8 questions wants just the one-sided area (choose 1-sided) and use the 100-percent if it asks above:

  1. above .10 = 54%
  2. below .10 = 46%
  3. above .20 =58%
  4. below .20 =42%
  5. above 1.10 =86%
  6. below 1.10 = ~14%
  7. above -.10 = 54%
  8. below -.10 = 46%
